Students Grieve, Ex-Boyfriend Appears Before Judge

Marqz Robotham, 18, is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, accused of stabbing his former girlfriend to death on Thursday.

Police accuse Robotham of stabbing Allison Owen, 18, up to 10 times in the parking lot of a Windsor Federal Savings branch in Windsor on Thursday afternoon.

Robotham was arrested after witnesses who chased him reported his location.

Windsor police say the two attended Windsor High School and graduated last year. They lived together until they broke up recently.

Robotham was arraigned on a murder charge on Friday in Enfield Superior Court and his case was transferred to Hartford Superior Court, where he is to appear May 12.

Relatives of Robotham and Owen declined to comment outside court Friday.

Over at Windsor High School, Principal Russell Sills delivered the tragic news to the student body.

“She was well liked, a student that fit across the layers of Windsor High School. She was a phenomenal young lady,” Sills said.

The couple attended prom together, were in the Japanese Anime club, had many friends and both had promising futures, he said.

Counselors were at the school on Friday and will remain available for as long as students need them.

Sills said dozens of students have taken advantage of their services.

“Both were well liked, engaged students. It’s hitting the school pretty hard,” Sills said.
