Suspect in 2011 New Haven Murder in Custody

The suspect in a murder at a former Cinqué Green Public Housing apartment building in New Haven in 2011 has been arrested.

Christopher Calhoun, 26, of New Haven, was taken into custody Monday as authorities served him with a warrant charging him with the murder of 23-year-old Issah Gantt, according to police.

Officers found Gantt lying wounded in the building’s vestibule when they responded at 12:47 a.m. April 20, 2011 to investigate the report of a person being shot.

Gantt was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital and an autopsy revealed that he suffered three gunshot wounds to his back, two on his upper left arm and two on the left side of his head, according to the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice.

Calhoun was apprehended at his home on Pardee Street.
