Bridgeport police have arrested a suspect in a homicide at Leylas Grocery last month.
Courtney Burden, 21, of Colorado Avenue, has been charged with murder and being held in lieu of $1 million bond.
He is accused of shooting Moin Hassan, a foreign national who attended University of Bridgeport.
Hassan was shot while standing at the counter of the grocery during an apparent robbery attempt on the evening of Sept. 18 and later died at Bridgeport Hospital, police said.
Burden was taken into custody on Saturday morning while staying in a public housing authority. Police said he had an outstanding escape from custody warrant issued for his arrest.
On Wednesday morning, he was brought from the Bridgeport Correctional Center to court to be served with the murder warrant and is expect to be arraigned today.
Burden has a prior criminal history with this agency which includes robbery, interfering and trespassing.
The Connecticut Post reported that Hassan was a graduate student in electrical engineering and also studied at American International University in his native Bangladesh.
