The suspect linked to several expensive wine thefts in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey has been extradited to Groton, police said.
Scott DeLuca, 25, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, who was wanted in Connecticut, was nabbed in Rhode Island in January on charges that included being a fugitive.
Groton Police accuse DeLuca of making arrangements to meet with the manager of the Octagon Restaurant at the Mystic Marriott in October under the guise of planning a formal dinner party before stealing a $4,800 bottle of 1990 Chateau Petrus.
After the incident, officers learned similar incidents had happened in New York and New Jersey, as well as other parts of Connecticut.
DeLuca is being held on a $10,000 bond.
After appearing in court, he will need to go to the next department where a warrant was issued for him. It is not clear how many warrants have been issued ffor DeLuca across the three states.
Police said when they asked DeLuca if he could taste the difference between expensive wines and lower priced wines, he just smiled and told officers he was told not the answer that question.
It is not clear who DeLuca's attorney is.
