Suspect in Teen's Rape Arrested

Police arrested a man in connection with the June rape of a teenager in Watertown Friday.

Gani Demiroski, 21, was taken into custody after he left work at Fratelli's Pizzeria on East Main St, in Thomaston Friday afternoon. The restaurant is owned by Demiroski's parents, police said.

Police say Demiroski is responsible for the sexual assault of a teenage girl near Black Rock State Park June 18. Investigators developed leads that led them to Demiroski after working with Thomaston police, who were investigating a similar crime in their town.

Police obtained a search warrant to obtain a DNA sample from Demiroski several weeks ago. The DNA came back as a match to the Watertown sex assault victim as well as the Thomaston sex assault victim, according to police.

The Thomaston attack happened near Thomaston High School in November. A teenage girl was assaulted while she walked along route 109. Demiroski has not been charged in that case, but police said they planned to charge him soon.

Demiroski was being held on $500,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
