3 Suspects in Vernon Robbery Captured in Newington: Police

Police have captured three suspects in an armed robbery outside a bowling alley in Vernon after a pursuit through multiple towns overnight.

Newington police said a robbery investigation out of Vernon led to a search near the PC Richards on Webster Street near the Berlin Turnpike (Route 5) early Monday.

Vernon police said, three people were involved in an armed robbery in the parking lot of the Spare Time bowling alley just before 11 p.m. Sunday, showed a gun, and fled the area in a vehicle.

A short time later, a Connecticut State Police trooper spotted the vehicle on Route 30 in Vernon and followed it onto Interstate 84 west. State police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled into Newington on the Berlin Turnpike. The suspects eventually crashed on Webster Street, police said.

At that point, two of the suspects were captured. Police identified them as 19-year-old Joshua Dionne, and 18-year-old Jerris Holloway, of Hartford. Both have been charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny, first-degree forgery, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and second-degree threatening.

The third suspect ran, but a police K9 helped track him down.

Connecticut State Police, Newington Police, Wethersfield Police and Berlin Police all responded to assist with the suspect search.

Police have identified the third suspect as 22-year-old Charles Rivard, of East Hartford.

Rivard, who was on parole, is being held on a $250,000 bond.

He has been charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree larceny, first-degree forgery, possession of more than four ounces of cannabis, second-degree threatening and first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery.
