Quinnipiac University has sent a student home who demonstrated flu-like symptoms after a visit to the health center on campus. The university has sent test samples to the Connecticut Department of Health for evaluation.
“The media continues to give a great deal of attention to the recent H1N1 influenza outbreak, which seems to have originated in Mexico,” Lynn Bushnell, vice president of public affairs, said in a campus-wide e-mail. “We at Quinnipiac also are monitoring the situation.”
The student is home and being treated with anti-viral medication. The student’s roommates have been notified, Bushnell said.
The state Department of Health Thursday has also identified two students at Fairfield University as probable for swine flu.
