QU Student Tested for Swine Flu

Quinnipiac University has sent a student home who demonstrated flu-like symptoms after a visit to the health center on campus. The university has sent test samples to the Connecticut Department of Health for evaluation.

“The media continues to give a great deal of attention to the recent H1N1 influenza outbreak, which seems to have originated in Mexico,” Lynn Bushnell, vice president of public affairs, said in a campus-wide e-mail. “We at Quinnipiac also are monitoring the situation.”

The student is home and being treated with anti-viral medication. The student’s roommates have been notified,  Bushnell said.

The state Department of Health Thursday has also identified two students at Fairfield University as probable for swine flu.

Yale University's health services is also treating four off campus students for a flu like illness.  Samples have been sent for testing.
