Tolls Considered for Connecticut Roads

Drivers in Connecticut could soon face another type of "stop-and-go" traffic should toll roads be reinstituted.

The General Assembly's Transportation Committee will hold a public hearing on Friday to debate several bills that could reinstate tolls in the state.

Some of the ideas include opening tolls on the state's major highways along the borders, installing EZ Pass stations to collect fees from large cargo trucks, and adding tolls to new highways or highway extensions.

Connecticut closed its toll booths in the 1980s.
