Teens Attack Dad with Shovel, Now Face Assault Charges

Willi Almonte-Rodriguez, 19, and his younger brother are facing charges after allegedly attacking their dad with shovels.

Mr. Almonte and his 10-year-old son were clearing Monday's massive snowfall from the driveway, when the father asked his teenage sons to pitch in, according to police.

This touched off an argument that quickly turned violent, with Willi knocking his father to the ground with a blow to the head from a shovel, say police.  As Mr. Almonte lay sprawled on the ground, the 17-year-old, whose name is being withheld because of his age, followed up with a shot to dad's back.

The two brothers fled but were arrested a short time later. Both face charges of second-degree assault and conspiracy.

Meanwhile, their father was treated for his injuries at Stamford Hospital.
