Teens Killed After Car Plunges Into Water

Two teens are dead after an early morning accident on Saturday.

The victims have been identified as Sabastian Duclau, 18, of Ashford and Jacob Sterczala, 17, of Killingly. Both attended Killingly High School at one point.

By evening, flowers were placed at the spot of the crash. A family friend stopped by to pay his respects.

"It hurts cause they're both great kids, really great kids," he said. "Known them for a long, long time."

Police said Duclau was driving his 2005 Suzuki Forenza when he lost control of the car and struck a tree before rolling into a swamp.

The accident happened at about 1 a.m. on Rt. 44 in Eastford near the Pomfret border.

The Eastford and Pomfret Fire Departments as well as a dive team with the Woodstock Fire Dept. also assisted at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
