Torrington Man Accused of Stabbing Someone, Attempting to Run Them Over During Altercation

Torrington Police have arrested a man who is accused of trying to run someone over and then stabbing them during an altercation on Saturday night.

Officers were called to Terrace Drive around 11:45 p.m. after a man reported that he was stabbed in the stomach. The man told police that he was involved in an altercation with another man on Winsted Road near Landucci Heating and Cooling and Dawn's Getaway Cafe.

According to police, the man who was stabbed reported that the suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Justice Gonzales, of Torrington, attempted to run him over with a vehicle. He said Gonzales then left the vehicle and a physical fight occurred, which resulted in him being stabbed.

The man was transported to Waterbury Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was later released after being treated for two knife wounds to the stomach, police said.

Officers said this was not a random attack and the victim and Gonzales knew each other.

After an investigation, Gonzales was arrested and charged with assault. He was held on $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
