Torrington Police Department Routine Phone Lines Restored

The Torrington police department was experiencing problems with its routine phone lines and could not make or receive phone calls, but is appears the issue has been resolved.

The Torrington police department Facebook page says the routine lines are working again.

Police said they were working with Frontier to rectify the issue and set up a temporary phone line in the interim for non-emergency calls 860-782-0523. The temporary line will be taken out of service now that the routine calls are working again.

The 911 lines are up and working for all emergency calls and police urge residents to use 911 for emergencies only because they do not want to tie up the emergency lines with routine calls.

It’s not clear what caused the issue.
