A 7-year-old Torrington girl is home safe after being reported missing Saturday afternoon.
Police say the child was reported missing around 3 p.m. from the area of Workman Avenue. It was initially thought the child ran away from home after visiting a neighbor
Torrington police and fire crews canvassed the surrounding neighborhoods. The Goshen dive team was called in as a precaution because the neighborhood was close to the Naugatuck river.
After several hours the girl was returned home safe by a family friend. Torrington police and the Department of Children and Families are investigating the incident.
