Roads Remain Slick As Snow Tapers Off

3 to 6 inches of snow expected...

Snow began to wind down Saturday night as a system moved away after coating the state with a moderate blanket of the white stuff.

Light snow coated grassy areas early but roads became covered in the early afternoon as the snow's intensity picked up.

State police said troopers responded to 220 crashes on Connecticut roadways through 5 p.m.  They also responded to an additional 124 calls to assist motorists with spin-outs or disabled vehicles.

A winter storm warning was in effect for Middlesex, New  Haven, New London and Windham counties. A winter weather advisory was in effect for Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield and Tolland counties.

The snow was expected to diminish overnight with a few lingering flurries and snow showers into early Sunday morning.

Towns across Connecticut saw anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow depending on location.
