A falling tree knocked out power to more than a thousand customers, and blocked a road Monday night in Norwich.
Police say the tree fell around 5 p.m. on Franklin Street near Franklin Square and took down a utility pole and caused transformer to blow. Crews spent several hours cutting up the tree and removing the debris.
Norwich Public Utilities say just over 1,000 families lost power, and that 500 had their power restored by 8:15 p.m. Crew hopes to have the all the lights on before midnight.
