Trial to Resume for Mom Charged With Killing 2 Children in East Haven

The trial of a Connecticut woman accused of killing her two children is set to resume amid conflicting opinions about her mental health.

A three-judge panel in New Haven is scheduled to continue hearing testimony Monday in the case of 39-year-old LeRoya Moore.

Moore is charged with murder in the deaths of her 6-year-old daughter, Aleisha, and her 7-year-old son, Daaron, in East Haven in 2015. Her lawyers are pursuing an insanity defense.

Autopsies showed the children died from antihistamine intoxication, but a defense psychiatrist said Moore told him she drowned them while trying to "baptize" them after God told her she was supposed to kill them and herself.

The New Haven Register reports a psychiatrist for the prosecution testified Moore wasn't psychotic during the killings, contradicting the defense's psychiatrist.
