Trooper in Crash Had Drugs in System: Warrant

Methadone and morphine were found in his system, according to court documents.

When State Trooper Timothy Kradas rear-ended a box truck on I-384 Feb. 2, he had drugs and alcohol in his system, according to court documents.

Lt. Kradas, 47, was arraigned in Manchester Superior Court Monday. He was arrested March 11, on charges of driving under the influence.

According to court papers, State Police who responded to the crash scene found three empty beer cans, as well as five full cans of beer and brown paper bags outside the cruiser's car door. They also found an empty vodka bottle and a container of tomato juice as well, the documents state.

The truck driver told officers he saw Lt. Kradas throwing the brown paper bags out of the car window after the crash. Troopers said they smelled alcohol on the Lieutenant's breath and that Kradas told them he had two beers before work that day, according to the arrest warrant.

Kradas was taken to the hospital after the crash where doctors drew blood for testing. Those tests came back positive for methadone, morphine and trace amounts of alcohol, according to court documents.

He was suspended after his arrest earlier this month. The case against Kradas was continued until April 25.
