State police said a man was found dead inside of a home during a fire in Brooklyn on Sunday morning.
Firefighters from multiple fire companies and state police responded to the scene of a house fire on Wauregan Road in Brooklyn around 10:45 a.m.
Crews who were first in the house said they found a man's body in the downstairs living room.
Authorities said it appears he took his own life.
The Fire Marshal was called to the scene to conduct an investigation and later requested assistance from the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.
Detectives responded and conducted an investigation that included statements, photos and videos.
The Medical Examiner was notified and also responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
