State police are investigating a Hartford truck crash on Thursday morning that happened in nearly the same spot where a 16-year-old was killed almost two weeks ago.
At about 7 a.m., a box truck traveling westbound on Interstate-84 in Hartford crashed through the guardrail on the side of the highway and landed at the bottom of a steep embankment, just a few feet from where the school bus landed on Jan. 9, killing Vikas Parikh, of Rocky Hill.
The 37-year-old driver of the truck that crashed on Thursday was not seriously injured. Police say he lost control of his vehicle, either because of fatigue or some other factor.
While investigators always look into the possibility that highway or road conditions might have played a role in the crash, initial indications are that it was just a coincidence that it occurred in the same place as the bus crash.
