UConn Opens Gampel Pavilion to Watch Game

Students can watch the game from campus.

The UConn men have some supportive fans in Houston, but many Husky diehards are rooting them on from home base in Storrs.

So, Gampel Pavilion will be open to students to watch tonight’s national championship game and cheer their team on together.

Thousands are expected to watch the game on big screens being set up at center court.

UConn is also preparing for a campus street party should the Huskies beat Butler.

Officials said the idea is to provide somewhere for the students to go that will be fun and safe.

In 2004, the last time the UConn men won a championship, 35 people were arrested after rowdy fans started fires and overturned some cars on campus.
