UConn's Nathan Hale Hotel to Become Student Dormitory

The Nathan Hale Inn and Conference Center on the University of Connecticut campus in Storrs will soon become a student dormitory.

UConn spokesperson Stephanie Reitz said the university purchased the hotel on July 1 for $8.3 million. The school has been renting rooms to students for the past two years.

Although the time frame is unclear, Reitz said Nathan Hale will house 280 students when the conversion is complete and will become part of the nearby South Residence Area.

In the meantime, UConn expects to spend some $648,000 to bring the building up to code, according to Reitz.

It comes as the ever-growing university welcomes its largest freshman class in history.
