UConn Stunned By Notre Dame

The UConn Huskies were eliminated from the NCAA tournament Saturday night, losing to Notre Dame 72-63.

The loss ends UConn's bid for a third consecutive National Championship.  It also ends the college career of Maya Moore, one of the greatest players in the history of women's college basketball.

UConn held a six-point lead against the Fighting Irish going into halftime, but came out flat in the second half.  Notre Dame went on a 15-4 run to take the lead midway through the second half, and UConn played catch-up for the rest of the game.

Moore scored 5 quick points and was fouled while taking a three-point shot with just 1:18 left in the game, but missed two of the three free throws.  UConn never got closer to Notre Dame than three points from that point on.

Moore, who had only lost 3 games at UConn prior to Saturday, finished with 36 points.

Notre Dame will take on Texas A&M Tuesday for the National Championship.
