Unhealthy Air Warning for Next Few Days

NBC Bay Area

Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is predicting unhealthy air quality for certain sensitive groups over the coming days.

DEEP officials say weather patterns beginning Sunday will create elevated ground-level ozone pollution in northern Fairfield County, northern New Haven County, northern Middlesex County and Hartford County.

DEEP says these unhealthy air quality conditions could affect the entire state by Monday, when temperatures could exceed 90 degrees.

Commissioner Robert Klee says the agency issued an air quality alert because of Father's Day. He is urging all dads to "take the weekend off from cutting the lawn" to minimize any health impacts and to avoid contributing additional emissions from their lawn mowers.

Sensitive groups include the elderly, children and those with respiratory disease.
