A New Haven police officer fired after a drunken bar incident will get his job back.
Last October, Jason Bandy called out sick from work and was arrested later that same night for urinating on the bathroom floor of the Center Street Lounge.
He was also accused of cursing at an employee and kicking a pile of garbage at the bar.
Bandy was scheduled to fight for his job in front of an arbiter last Friday, according to the New Haven Register. But the police union and the city reached an agreement before the hearing began, the paper reported.
As part of the agreement, Bandy's termination was converted to a one-year unpaid suspension, the Register reported.
He will be allowed to return to work in January 2011. Bandy will also be subject to an 18-month "last chance" stipulation.
That means if he gets into trouble with the department during that time, he will be fired without recourse, according to the paper.
