Window-Shooting Vandals Strike in Naugatuck

Naugatuck gets hit just days after Middletown

It was a busy weekend for vandals in Naugatuck who shot out more than two dozen car windows.

It all started on Friday night and might have continued on Saturday night, Naugatuck police say.

By Sunday, they were investigating 26 cases of car windows that were shot out by BB guns, said police.

"It appears someone was in a vehicle and then shooting out from their vehicles into others," said Lt. Robert Harrison, of the Naugatuck Police Department.

Jason Stikkel, of High Street, awoke Monday morning to find his car window shot out.

He didn't drive his car Sunday, and believes it happened Saturday night.

"I'm pretty upset actually," Stikkel said. "It's not a good thing to wake up to."

Police reports show that some items were also stolen out of some cars, including a GPS and a digital camera.

Several mailboxes appeared to be damaged in the crime spree as well, police said.

One witness reported seeing a red or orange box-shaped vehicle, police said. So far, police have made no arrests.

"We're just asking the public if they happen to know anything and could help us out to please contact us," said Harrison.

This spree comes just days after vandals broke windshields all over Middletown.
