Vigil Planned for West Hartford Murder Victim

Suzete Berrincha died after being stabbed last week.

A candlelight vigil will be held in Blue Back Square today to remember a 22-year-old West Hartford woman who was murdered in her parents’ home last Thursday.

Suzete Berrincha had been stabbed several times. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Her ex-boyfriend, David Hugh Grant, has been charged with murder.

The vigil will be held in Blue Back Square at 6 p.m. on Nov. 10, according to a news release from the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

“Ms. Berrincha's death marks the fifth life lost to domestic violence in the past six weeks. We are horrified and saddened by this apparent act of domestic violence," Karen Jarmoc, of the coalition, said in a news release.

Berrincha was a 2010 graduate of the University of Connecticut, according to CCADV.

Grant is being held on $2 million bond and is due back in court on Dec. 6.
