A water main broke Tuesday morning near 261 Brook Street in Bristol, causing water levels in the tanks to drop and potential problems for one-third of Bristol Water Department customers throughout the day.
Several residents have no water, discoloration or low pressure. The Bristol Water Department expects customers to have a problem with water service all day.
The Bristol Water Department serves about 85 percent of Bristol residents and had 16,211 residential, 1540 commercial and 118 industrial accounts. Of the commercial accounts, 288 are believed to be condominiums or apartments.
