A 16-inch water main broke at Trumbull and Market streets in Hartford on Tuesday afternoon and the Ramada Plaza Hartford Downtown is being affected.
The break is affecting traffic. The northbound and southbound ramps of Interstate 91 are closed at the Trumbull and Market street exits.
The Metropolitan District Commission is excavating and trying to locate the source of the problem.
MDC officials said they expect the repair work to take 8 to 10 hours.
