Waterbury Man Arrested in Shooting Death of Girlfriend

A Waterbury man has been arrested in the shooting death of his girlfriend Saturday morning.

Police were called to the couple's home on Clifton Avenue just before 9 a.m. for a report of a disturbance.

Responding officers found 22-year-old Ebony Swaby suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to St. Mary's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Her boyfriend, 32-year-old Camal Barnes, was arrested and charged with murder and risk of injury. The couple's two-month-old child was in the home at the time of the shooting. No other injuries were reported.

It's unclear whether Barnes has an attorney who could comment on the charges.

No further details were immediately available.
