The UConn Health Partners facility in West Hartford was evacuated on Monday morning after a van carrying prisoners hit a ceiling to a parking area and caused some damage.
Police said the no height restriction was posted at the entrance to the parking area at 65 Kane Street and the Department of Correction van drove almost the entire length of the roadway under the building, damaging the facade, the ceiling and a water pipe.
Everyone was allowed back into the building once it was deemed safe. No one was injured and the van sustained some minor damage to the roof.
One person who was in the building said it felt like an earthquake.
No charges were filed because no one violated any motor vehicle laws.
