Woman Accused of Assaulting Teenager on CT Transit Bus in Hamden

Police are trying to identify a woman accused of assaulting a teenager on a Connecticut Transit bus in Hamden last week.

Officers were called to a house on Dixwell Avenue on Sunday after getting a report of an assault that had happened the day before.

An investigation revealed that a 16-year-old Hamden resident got on a Connecticut Transit bus near Dixwell Avenue and Putnam Avenue on Saturday. The teenager said a passenger, described as a 40-year-old woman who was about 5'9" with a heavy build, wearing a jean jacket began provoking her.

The teenager told police that the woman made demeaning statements to her then attacked her. According to the teen, the woman first threw a cup of soda at her then she "struck her an unknown amount of times with closed fist punches" and bit her on the arm. The teenager sustained injuries to her neck, face and arm and was transported to a medical facility for treatment by a family member.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Officer Justin Thibault at (203) 230-4030.
