Woman Dead After 1-Car Crash in Waterbury

Police are investigating a fatal one-car crash that ended with the vehicle in the backyard of a home in Waterbury.

Officers responded to Walnut Street and Wood Street just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

According to police, the car went through a stop sign, hit the curb and traveled off the road, hitting the satellite dish outside a home, and finally came to rest in the backyard.

They found a woman in the driver's seat who was unconscious. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police believe she may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

There were three men in the car at the time of the crash, police said. One remained on scene and two others left before officers arrived.

Police did not release the identities of anyone involved.
