A 79-year-old New Haven landlord was arrested after one of her tenants fell off a second-story porch when a railing broke.
Joanne Keyes was arrested on Tuesday on an administrative warrant alleging that she failed to appear in housing court to face charges that she didn't fix 28 code violations at the three-family home on Shepard Street, police told the Associated Press.
The tenant, Julia Blackmon, 59, was listed in serious but stable condition at the Hospital of Saint Raphael. Authorities said she fell about 20 feet off the porch on Tuesday.
Officials said they found several problems at the home during inspections in 2009, including exposed wires and holes in walls. Authorities have condemned the porch until repairs are made.
It's not clear if Keyes has a lawyer.
