Police have captured the woman wanted in connection with the murder of a Hartford mother of two.
Delitrice Medina was taken into custody Tuesday, according to Hartford Police. Authorities had been looking for Medina, 33, since shortly after the April 3 murder of Quiana Dismuke.
Dismuke was shot and killed outside of her home on Edgewood Street. She had been standing with other people when a car pulled up alongside them and someone inside the car began shooting. Dismuke was hit three times, and died at the hospital a short time later.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Medina April 5. They worked with U.S. Marshals and a federal fugitive task force, and after receiving a tip, located Medina in Torrington Tuesday morning.
"I want to commend Major Crimes and Intelligence Division Detectives, and all officers involved in this investigation for their relentless pursuit of information that has ultimately resulted in the capture of Medina, who will now be brought to justice and held accountable for her violent actions," Hartford Police Chief Daryl Roberts said. "I also wish to express, on behalf of the department, thanks and appreciation to members of the community for their support and assistance in this investigation.
The arrest comes on the same day Dismuke was laid to rest.
Medina faces murder charges when she appears in court Wednesday.
