A female body has been discovered in the Quinnipiac River in New Haven Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to the south end of the river near the Grand Ave. Bridge and Front St. just after 11 a.m.
The body of a black female was discovered there in shallow water.
Earlier this morning, a 19-year-old female was reported missing. The woman was last seen around 7 p.m. Saturday evening.
Family report that she was despondent.
Police believe that the body is that of the missing woman, though the identity is being withheld pending an investigation by the medical examiner.
Detectives suspect that the death was caused by suicide or an accidental drowning.
