Worker Freed After Milford Construction Accident

A worker was pulled from a trench at 396 West Mayflower Place in Milford on Tuesday morning after a wall support fell and hit him in the head.

The worker, a man in his 50s, was about 20-feet deep in the hole, when he was struck in the head, officials said. He was conscious and talking the entire time as workers at the construction site used a crane to lower the basket to firefighters, who "packaged" the man and brought him to the surface at 11:33 a.m.

Medics drove the man to Yale New Haven Trauma Center to be treated for head, neck and back injuries from trauma, police said.

OSHA was at the scene and is investigating what caused the accident.
