Fight, Broken Crack Pipe Led to Stabbings: Report

A 23-year-old woman and her 79-year-old grandmother were stabbed to death in their Iranistan Avenue home in Bridgeport on Sunday and police have arrested the granddaughter’s boyfriend.

Rey Damian Garcia, 24, a grocery store butcher, has been charged with the slayings of Ignasa Delvalle, 79, and niece, Yelisza Delvalle, 23.

Garcia told police that Yelisza had broken his crack pipes and threatened to leave him, when he "lost it" and stabbed her with two knives, according to the police affidavit.

When Ignacia Delvalle told him she wanted to see her granddaughter, Garcia stabbed her to death as well, police said.

Police found one knife at the scene, the other at Seaside Park, a few blocks away.

A judge will be deciding whether to charge Garcia with two counts of murder or three. Police were told Yelisza was pregnant and the medical examiner will determine if that's the case.

Carlos Delvalle, of Bridgeport, found the bodies of his mother and niece on Sunday morning.

“I found out around 7 o’clock in the morning,” he said. “I come to see my mama and I found her in the bed, dead.”

The women had been slashed to death in their beds on the second floor, police said.

Ignasia's husband survived. Police say he was sleeping on the couch downstairs.

Police took Yelisza Delvalle’s boyfriend, Garcia, into custody at the entrance of the Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport two hours after the bodies were found.

Investigators said he confessed to the crimes.

Garcia, who works as a grocery store butcher, according to the bail commissioner, was convicted of forgery in 2007 and served two years in jail. He is on probation for that crime now. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
