Suspect in N.C. Killings Had 12 Guns, Ammo in Home

The North Carolina man accused of killing three members of a Muslim family Tuesday in had 12 guns, loaded magazines and cases of ammunition in his home, according to search warrants released Friday, NBC News reported. Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, is charged with three counts of murder in the slayings of his neighbors Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23; his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21 and her sister; Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, who were killed in their home near the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A preliminary police investigation indicated Hicks was angry about a parking dispute, but police said they are investigating further. The victims' families have called the killings a hate crime, and the shooting has sparked outrage among Muslims in the U.S. and around the world. President Obama on Friday called the slayings "brutal and outrageous," and offered his condolences to the family.
