Boy Hurt in Crash When Indiana Mom Spots Spider and Jumps From Moving Car: Cops

When a northern Indiana woman noticed a spider on her shoulder, she allegedly jumped out of the vehicle she was driving, leading to a crash that injured her 9-year-old son, police said.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department said 35-year-old Angela K. Kipp, of Syracuse, was backing her vehicle from a driveway when she discovered a spider on her shoulder and jumped out.

Kipp’s 9-year-old son climbed from the back seat to the driver’s seat and attempted to hit the brake pedal, but instead stepped on the gas pedal, sheriff's deputies said. The vehicle then hit a passing Wawasee Corporation School bus.

The boy suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Goshen General Hospital in stable condition, authorities said.

No children were on the bus at the time and the 62-year-old driver of the school bus was not injured in the crash.
