NY Doctor Accepted Cash, Justin Bieber Tickets as Bribes From NJ Blood Lab: Prosecutors

Federal prosecutors have charged a New York doctor with accepting cash bribes and tickets to Justin Bieber and Katy Perry concerts from a New Jersey blood lab.

Fifty-year-old Bret Ostrager was indicted in federal court Tuesday on charges of violating anti-kickback laws and other offenses.

Prosecutors say Ostrager accepted monthly bribes of $3,300 from employees and associates of Biodiagnostic Laboratory Services in Parsippany. They say he also received thousands of dollars' worth of meals and tickets to sporting events and concerts.

In return, prosecutors say Ostrager referred his patients' blood samples to BLS, generating just over $900,000 in business for the lab.

Ostrager faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Thirty-eight people have pleaded guilty in connection with the bribery scheme.

Ostrager's attorney couldn't be reached for comment.
