Magnitude 4.6 Earthquake Rattles Seattle Area

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the quake

A 4.6 magnitude earthquake overnight rattled the Three Lakes area of Washington state, the U.S. Geological Survey reported

The initial temblor, recorded at 2:51 a.m. Friday at a depth of nearly 14 miles below the surface, was followed minutes later by a 3.5 magnitude aftershock near the city of Monroe, some 30 miles northeast of Seattle.

A USGS map showed light shaking felt in the Seattle area, down to Olympia and as far north as Vancouver, Canada.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, according to the sheriff's office in Snohomish County.
