Uber Board Member Resigns After Sexist Comment at Workplace Culture Meeting

Uber board member David Bonderman, who spurred outrage after making a sexist remark at a staff meeting held subsequent to an investigation of sexual harassment at the ride-sharing company, resigned on Tuesday.

The resignation will be effective as of Wednesday morning.

The comment, which can be heard on audio captured by Yahoo Finance, was made during a meeting about improving workplace culture at the ride-hailing company. Bonderman said that adding a second female member to the board would likely result in “more talking on the board.”

As CNBC reports, the gaffe comes after Uber investigated 47 counts of sexual harassment within the company, uncovered after a former Uber engineer claimed the company had failed to act on sexual harassment and gender discrimination complaints.
