Actress Lucy Lawless Arrested in New Zealand

The "Spartacus" and "Xena" star was part of an environmental protest.

"Spartacus: Vengeance" and "Xena: Warrior Princess" star Lucy Lawless was among a group of seven environmental activists arrested while protesting an oil-drilling platform in New Zealand.

The 43-year-old Lawless and several members of Greenpeace were taken into custody and charged with burglary after they boarded the Shell-owned drilling platform in an effort to prevent it from leaving port.

The group spent 77 hours camped out on top of the platform's drilling tower.

"This chapter has ended, but the story of the battle to save the Arctic has just begun," Lawless said in a statement. "Seven of us climbed up that drillship to stop Arctic drilling, but 133,000 of us came down." The last reference is in regards to the 133,000 people who recently sent protest emails to Shell in an effort to flood the company's servers.

Lawless is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
