Deputy Suspended for Leaked Video of FLL Airport Rampage

The Broward Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday the suspension of one of its deputies over a leaked video showing the airport mass shooting.

TMZ obtained airport security video of the moment accused gunman Esteban Santiago opened fire at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. Five people were killed in the shooting, while six were wounded.

It was later revealed that a law enforcement officer leaked the surveillance video to the celebrity gossip website.

"All the surveillance is considered evidence, so there was an issue with the fact that it was leaked because it's part of a federal investigation and that's a crime," said Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief.

The suspended deputy is identified as Michael Dingman, a 21-year veteran of BSO who is assigned to the airport. Dingman is suspended with pay pending the investigation.

"This individual really had no gauge whatsoever in terms of sensitivity and trust," Mayor Sharief said.

According to authorities, with the help of FBI technology, investigators were able to enhance the leaked video and in a reflection saw a logo as well as other identifying factors that connected Dingman to the leak.

Broward Sheriff Scott Israel said the department is "making progress and aggressively pursuing the case."

Officials are also looking into whether anyone received compensation from leaking the video to TMZ.
