Sentencing for Delivery Man in MLB Drug Case Delayed

A sentencing hearing will be held next week for a South Florida man who admitted delivering steroids in the Major League Baseball drug scandal.

Carlos Acevedo is likely to get far less than the 30-year maximum at a Jan. 16 hearing in Miami federal court because of his swift admission of guilt in the Biogenesis of America case. Acevedo pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute testosterone and the club drug known as "Molly."

Acevedo admitted delivering testosterone to Biogenesis founder Tony Bosch and later injecting customers.

The scandal resulted in suspensions last year for 14 professional players, including a season-long suspension imposed on New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez.

Of those charged, only Rodriguez cousin Yuri Sucart and former University of Miami pitching coach Lazaro Collazo are headed for trial.
