A Key West man was behind bars Wednesday after authorities caught him with a large amount of cocaine hidden in one of the last places most people would expect: a Cookie Monster doll.
Monroe County Sheriff’s officials say that shortly after midnight, a deputy spotted a car with an obscured license plate driving on U.S. 1 in Marathon. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 39-year-old Camus McNair.
According to the arrest report, the deputy smelled marijuana coming from the car and began a search. Deputies found a backpack that contained the doll and, after noticing it weighed more than expected, found 314 grams of cocaine, the report said.
McNair was arrested and charged with cocaine trafficking.
