Gareth Pugh to Dior Homme, Jack Spade Expands

On the coattails of designer Gareth Pugh’s Edward Scissorhands-esque menswear debut in late January, rumors began swirling that LVMH was looking to poach the Brit for a position at the helm of Dior Homme. (Speculation surfaced as a result of LVMH head Bernard Arnault’s daughter Delphine sitting front row at Pugh’s first-ever men’s presentation.) Turns out the rumors were true, says Grazia. While LVMH has yet to confirm the hire, word has it Pugh will follow in the footsteps of former Dior Homme designer Hedi Slimane (and Slimane’s successor Kris Van Assche) “any day now.”

The news is especially exciting given Pugh’s reputation as a consistently envelope-pushing, innovative designer. Since Slimane’s departure, Dior Homme has had difficulty reestablishing its profile as a fashion house to watch. But this changing of the guard could do just that. Also making waves (though significantly less avant-garde waves) in the menswear department is Jack Spade. The designer who built his brand on accessories will now be expanding into apparel, says Women’s Wear Daily. Meaning, if Pugh’s porcupine-like leather pants and peek-a-boo chain-mail tops aren’t exactly your thing, Spade will soon have you covered.
