Kim Basinger Joins the Cast of ‘Fifty Shades Darker'

Hm, a beautiful mature blond who oozes sex appeal and seduction? Wonder what role Kim Basinger will play?

E! News has confirmed that the 62-year-old actress has closed a deal to join the cast of the highly anticipated "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker."

And yes, as all of the fans can already guess, Basinger will take on the part of Elena Lincoln, Christian Grey's business partner and, more importantly, former love interest who first introduced him into the world of S&M.

This won't be the first time Basinger takes on big screen erotica.

She first came on the scene back in 1986 with "9 1/2 Weeks," where she played an art gallery assistant who gets thrown into a sexual whirlwind full of leather and bondage with a Wall Street trader, played by Mickey Rourke.

Jamie Dornan will return to the "Fifty Shades" sequel playing the hunky billionaire, along with his co-star Dakota Johnson, who will reprise her role as Anastasia Steele. James Foley is directing both "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" with Niall Leonard adapting both screenplays.

The film, which is slated to begin production in mid-February, is scheduled for release on February 10, 2017.

(E! Online and Universal Pictures are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
