Marin County Holds Toy Guns for Ice Cream Exchange

A different type of gun exchange was held in the North Bay Saturday.

In Marin County, children received free ice cream when they turned in their toy guns. The county said it plans on holding a few more toy gun exchanges in October.

It is organized through the district attorney's office, and they are also taking violent video games.

This effort comes nearly one year after a deputy shot and killed a teenager, Andy Lopez, in Santa Rosa.

The deputy who shot Lopez said he thought his toy rifle was real.

His death sparked a debate over the sale of toy guns.
