Afghan President Looks to Iran and Pakistan in Peace Talks

Afghan President Hamid Karzai met with Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday before a summit in Islamabad on Friday that will also include Iran leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Looking to move peace talks forward regarding the Afghan Taliban, Karzai is looking for outside help. There have been trust issues between the three countries in the past and there is also a level of uncertainty going into peace talks. Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said her government doesn't know what Afghanistan wants to achieve in the summit and said Kabul may be presumptuous in asking Pakistan to provide access to the Taliban's leaders.
